Global fuel crisis, diminishing
resources of fossil fuel, crude oil or petroleum, whichever word you
care to pick, in addition to all the other money crises and war on
terror, actually any excuse would do, fuel is short. The problem with
this constellation is that the petrol companies, like Shell Oil, or
British Petrol, or any other Oil company in existence move endless
billions of dollars and are unwilling to see the income go away. The
great idea of a solar car, electric car, cars working on principles of
magnetic energy, actually any other idea, but the idea of a combustion
engine using some form of petroleum residue or derivate will not be
accepted by the global behemoths. The public outcry and the globe
slowly dying because of the emissions have forced the hand of car
manufacturers, who are cooperating with their fuel delivering partners,
and the new jack in the box is ready for the world to embrace: Hybrid
Cars!
Touted as the latest invention built for the future, conserving the
world for the future generations, this new public relations gimmick of
a car is nothing but the prolongation of the income frenzy for the
power and money hungry oil companies. Electric cars exist already for
more than hundred and seventy years. The ultimate perfect city
transportation received a
surge in popularity in the early nineties of
the previous century, but the sales fizzled,
because the big gasoline pumping gas stations, owned by the oil
companies, neglected to provide the charging outlets. The relatively
expensive car, the low mileage before a recharge was needed and the
lack of interest of the big car companies killed the electric car.
But the industry figured that they managed to kill off the Earth's
atmosphere in just one century and that, although to a great extent
responsible, they should at least, in good old American manner, pose
for the heroes by introducing the Hybrid Cars. While the Hybrids with
the twin engine technology, combustion engine and the electric motors,
actually lower the polluting emissions, they are far away from saving
the world, being that the latest small cars like the Mercedes engined
Smart Car, or even the Indian Tata Nano, affixed with the conventional
combustion engines, produce the approximately same amount on emissions.
Nevertheless, the Hybrid Cars are just out and already the end is near.
In 2001, the REVA Electric Car Company has started with mass
manufacture of small urban electric cars that have the automotive world
in a frenzy. Announced full electric cars by Indian competing car
manufacturer TATA Motors and virtually all Japanese car producers have
forced the hand of the competitors and a rethinking is in progress.
