La Primer Generacion: Hybrid Cars

How do hybrid cars work

While there are a bunch of
hybrid vehicles already running around for years, including some city
busses, ships and aircraft, but also cranes and rail, the hybrid cars
are a very recent trend. Pressed by the environmental concerns and
diminishing oil reserves, instead going for broke and introducing new
technologies or even completely switch over to some environment
friendly solution, like the electric car or the car running on water
steam, the companies decided that reducing the pollution is enough if a
compromise is made, namely the huge oil companies got liberated and the
mix between an electric car and the combustion engine car is
introduced. How far this step forward propelled the mankind remains to
be seen, but baby steps seem larger.
Nevertheless, hybrid cars are already upon us and the confusion starts
when you are interested in finding out how that thing now actually
works. Two ideas exist and are used, with variations, namely the
parallel hybrid and the serial hybrid car. Variations include mild
parallel hybrid, plug-in hybrid electrical vehicle and the fuel
cell/electric hybrid.
Parallel hybrid cars have two engines, the regular combustion engine
and an electric motor. In this case, both engines can work together, in
parallel, or individually, producing movement. The trick seems to be
that whenever it is possible, or was thinkable while the

Hybrid cars in japan

Japan is a small island
nation with 4 major and several smaller islands. The population of the
country is small but hardworking and they have to survive on a piece of
inhabitable land much lesser than most of the 51 states of USA. Yet
they have always led the world of technology. Be it Sony corporation or
Toyota or Honda, they have always been at the forefront of
technological revolutions. While Sony was the first company to launch
portable music players in the form of walkmans, Honda was the first
company to launch a robot, Asimo, which was at least partially
intelligent and could do some practically useful tasks. And finally
Toyota was the first company to launch a commercially viable hybrid
car, Prius in the year 1997. Hybrid cars have been a big hit in Japan
primarily due to the fact that they are far more efficient than the
conventional fuel driven vehicles. The price of gasoline has been
increasing at an unprecedented rate in the island nation and this has
further increased the demand for these fuel efficient vehicles. Apart
from that even the Japanese government is taking strong measures to
give the economy and the car manufacturers a reason to cheer about in
the form of a $4billion stimulus package. The package aims to give
subsidies

Science behind hybrid cars

A hybrid vehicle is one
that can run on more than just one type of power source. The power
source can be manual as well as electrical or mechanical. With
reference to cars, hybrid cars is a term that is used for vehicles that
can run on gasoline or diesel as well as on battery power generated
from Lead-Acid or Nickel-metal hydride based cells.
The science behind hybrid cars is not very complicated. In all the
commercially available hybrid cars both internal combustion engine as
well as an electrical motor are installed. Both of these can
individually produce enough power to run the car. At lower speeds the
batteries can produce enough power to move the motor and thereby power
the car. However, at higher speeds or when the battery charge goes down
power from gasoline is required and according the internal combustion
engine is turned on. Generally for speeds up to 40 mph electrical power
generated from the on-board batteries is sufficient enough. The
internal combustion engine is also turned on when the batteries run out
of charge and need to be recharged. This ensures that the car needn't
be stopped or plugged anywhere if the batteries run out of power.
Most of the hybrid cars use only electric power when the car is
reversing or is idle

Ford hybrid cars

The Ford Motor Company was
founded in 1903 by Henry Ford, with investments from John and Horace
Dodge and ten other investors. Henry Ford was forty years old then and
this company went on to become one of the largest motor vehicle
companies of the world. The Model T automobile killed off all early
versions of hybrid vehicles and electric cars. The almost three times
cheaper automobile, based on a combustion engine, is what we all have
to thank for the current environmental problems and the greenhouse
effect the atmosphere is experiencing. Unfortunately for the world, the
cheap but very well functioning car inspired many car manufacturers
worldwide and combustion engines prevailed, not only establishing the
automotive industry, but also cementing the monopoly of the gasoline
and petroleum companies over our fates.
It is understandable that Ford Motor Company was very reluctant to
enter into the hybrid car market, which was fervently pushed by the
Toyota Motor Company since the nineties of the twentieth century.
Pressured by the environmentalists, by the shifting market focus, by
the diminishing sales and the research and development team, the board
of directors finally succumbed and in 2004 the first Ford hybrid
vehicle, the Ford Escape Hybrid, was offered for sale. Basically a Ford
Escape special utility vehicle, the Ford Escape Hybrid is a so

Global fuel crisis, diminishing
resources of fossil fuel, crude oil or petroleum, whichever word you
care to pick, in addition to all the other money crises and war on
terror, actually any excuse would do, fuel is short. The problem with
this constellation is that the petrol companies, like Shell Oil, or
British Petrol, or any other Oil company in existence move endless
billions of dollars and are unwilling to see the income go away. The
great idea of a solar car, electric car, cars working on principles of
magnetic energy, actually any other idea, but the idea of a combustion
engine using some form of petroleum residue or derivate will not be
accepted by the global behemoths. The public outcry and the globe
slowly dying because of the emissions have forced the hand of car
manufacturers, who are cooperating with their fuel delivering partners,
and the new jack in the box is ready for the world to embrace: Hybrid
Cars!
Touted as the latest invention built for the future, conserving the
world for the future generations, this new public relations gimmick of
a car is nothing but the prolongation of the income frenzy for the
power and money hungry oil companies. Electric cars exist already for
more than hundred and seventy years. The ultimate perfect city
transportation received a
